Despite ongoing cancer treatment, King Charles, at the age of 75, is displaying his determination by planning to attend his annual birthday parade, Trooping the Colour, set for June 15th in London. It has been reported that the monarch has postponed many of his public events to focus on his treatment, but continues to handle his daily red boxes and conduct small audiences at Buckingham Palace. Traditionally, the sovereign would ride on horseback during the procession, a tradition that King Charles followed during his first Trooping the Colour last summer.
Due to the constraints of his ongoing cancer treatment, aides are considering alternative ways for King Charles to take part in the military spectacle. One possible solution is for the King to watch from a podium and be driven in a carriage from Buckingham Palace, a method previously used by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. This change comes after Queen Elizabeth II herself rode on horseback down The Mall until 1987.
Buckingham Palace officially announced King Charles’ cancer diagnosis on 5th February. The disease, although not prostate cancer, was discovered while he was undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate in the hospital. The type of cancer has not been confirmed by aides. Despite this health setback, King Charles remains committed to his duties and is finding ways to continue fulfilling his royal responsibilities.
The Army recently faced backlash after making an announcement on its website without prior approval from Kensington Palace regarding the involvement of the Princess of Wales, Kate, in Trooping the Colour. The website mentioned Kate conducting a review of the troops on 8th June in her capacity as Honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards. However, doubts have been raised about her attendance as she is currently recovering from abdominal surgery and is expected to resume her public duties after Easter.
Reports have emerged of Kate’s recent public appearances, including visits to The Windsor Farm Shop and attending her children’s sports matches over the weekend. Additionally, she has been seen participating in the school run at Lambrook. Despite her health concerns, Kate remains active in her personal life and family responsibilities, evidenced by her presence at various events.
