King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark have taken on some of their initial royal tours after ascending the throne, with the royal couple visiting their neighboring Scandinavian countries. These visits are part of their official duties, including planned visits to the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
Initially, the royals were scheduled to be in the Faroe Islands from 11-14 June and in Greenland from 29 June-8 July. However, there has been a recent update to their itinerary, with the trip to Greenland now ending two days earlier than originally planned. The reason for this change in dates has not been disclosed.
Before their visit to the Faroe Islands and Greenland, King Frederik and Queen Mary made official visits to Sweden and Norway. During their time in Sweden, the couple showcased their strong bond, with Frederik publicly displaying affection towards his wife by kissing her on the cheek.
A highlight of their state visit to Sweden was a state banquet at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, where Queen Mary dazzled in a gold silk skirt and a sheer top with burgundy beading. The couple also visited Norway, where they were seen enjoying a leisurely stroll hand-in-hand along Oslo’s harbor front.
King Frederik and Queen Mary assumed the Danish throne earlier this year following the unexpected abdication of Frederik’s mother, Queen Margrethe. In her New Year’s Eve address, the former monarch expressed her gratitude for the warmth and support she received throughout her reign, and she expressed confidence in the new King and Queen’s ability to carry out their duties.
The royal tours undertaken by King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark have been significant events in their early reign. These visits serve to strengthen diplomatic ties with neighboring countries and showcase the new royal couple’s commitment to their royal duties. As they continue to navigate their roles on the throne, their interactions with other royal families and public appearances will play a crucial role in shaping their legacy.
