Märtha Louise of Norway and Durek Verrett’s wedding was an extravagant affair that included a pre-wedding highlight of a boat tour of the stunning Geiranger Fjord. The couple, along with their friends and family, embarked on this majestic voyage the day before their nuptials. The fjord, a Unesco world heritage site known for its great beauty, provided a breathtaking backdrop for the celebration.
A Royal Welcome
As the couple and their guests sailed through the towering rocky mountains, they were surprised by a salute from the royal yacht, where Märtha Louise’s parents, King Harald and Queen Sonja, stood on deck to wave. The warm royal welcome added an extra touch of excitement to the already magical journey. On the banks of the fjord, well-wishers waved the Norwegian flag, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration.
One of the most romantic moments of the boat tour was the visit to the fjord’s breathtaking waterfall trails. Against the dramatic backdrop of the Seven Sisters Falls and The Suitor waterfall, Märtha Louise and Durek exuded love and affection. The bride-to-be expressed her happiness at sharing this beautiful place with her loved ones, emphasizing the support and love shown by the people who came out to wave to the passing boats.
As the second boat carrying the couple’s friends and family, including Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, glided past, Märtha Louise and Durek climbed onto a table on deck to raise their glasses in a celebratory toast. The guests enjoyed a picnic lunch, consisting of delicious dishes like cheese and quince tart, Norwegian shrimp and salad, and a roulade of smoked salmon, egg, and chive. The lunch was presented in souvenir lunchboxes bearing the couple’s monogram.
The boat tour of the Geiranger Fjord was a magical and unforgettable experience for Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett, as well as their guests.
