The 17-year-old accused of shooting Ricky Pearsall expressed his remorse through his attorney, stating that he was “very sorry” for his actions. Deputy Public Defender Bob Dunlap conveyed the young suspect’s genuine remorse about the incident. The accused gunman’s family also offered their apologies, emphasizing the regret and sorrow surrounding the tragic event.

The teenager who allegedly shot San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall during an attempted robbery has been charged with three felonies, including attempted murder. SF District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that the 17-year-old suspect faces charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and attempted second-degree robbery alongside the attempted murder charge. The decision to try the suspect as an adult is still pending as prosecutors evaluate the severity of the case.

The accused shooter is expected to be arraigned in juvenile court, but there is a possibility of being charged as an adult. District Attorney Jenkins emphasized the need to keep the teen behind bars due to concerns regarding public safety. The incident occurred in Union Square shortly after the victim, Ricky Pearsall, participated in an autograph signing event in the area.

Ricky Pearsall sustained a gunshot wound to the chest during the altercation, fortunately missing his vital organs. His mother provided a health update, revealing that the bullet exited through his back. The San Francisco 49ers placed Pearsall on the Non-Football Injury list, requiring him to sit out a minimum of four games. Despite the setback, the team’s General Manager, John Lynch, mentioned that Ricky is recovering well and has rejoined the team. While the timeline for his return to the field remains uncertain, the team prioritizes his recovery over rushing him back into in-game action.
