Fern Britton: Finding Love and Independence Post-Divorce

Fern Britton, at 66 years old, has made it clear that she values her independence above all else. After her divorce from Phil Vickery, she expressed in an interview with The Mail on Sunday that she has no desire to live with anyone or get married again. She stated, “I’m a very independent person and the older I get the more I realise I like freedom.” While Fern has closed the door on cohabitation and marriage, she has not completely ruled out the possibility of romance. She mentioned that if someone truly exceptional came into her life and could accept her for who she is, she would be open to it. However, she made it clear that she does not want the responsibilities that come with a traditional relationship, stating that separate houses would suit her just fine.

In January 2020, Fern Britton announced her separation from TV chef Phil Vickery after more than 20 years of marriage. Despite the end of their romantic relationship, Fern emphasized that they will always share a strong friendship and continue to co-parent their daughter, Winnie. In a conversation with Woman & Home Magazine in 2022, Fern revealed that she and Phil mutually decided to go their separate ways as they realized they were no longer leading the life they once had together. She reiterated the importance of gratitude for their time together and expressed that they have a good friendship that will endure. Fern highlighted the fun times they had and the beautiful daughter they share, affirming that they will always be connected through their shared history.

Apart from Winnie, Fern is a mother to twin sons Jack and Harry, and a daughter Grace, from her previous marriage to Clive Jones. Despite the changes in her personal life, Fern remains dedicated to her family. Her career has also evolved significantly over the years, providing her with opportunities to focus on her writing and enjoy quality time with her children. Fern’s decision to part ways with Phil Vickery allowed her the space to concentrate on her career, children, and personal growth, and she expressed contentment in pursuing these aspects of her life.

After leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house and stepping back from the spotlight, Fern Britton has found solace in her home in Cornwall. She shared in an interview with My Weekly that she finds peace in the scenic views that surround her. Whether it’s sitting on a cliff overlooking the sea or participating in art classes with friends, Fern values the simple moments that bring her joy. Painting has become a therapeutic outlet for Fern, allowing her to unwind and focus her mind on creativity. By immersing herself in painting, Fern finds relaxation and a sense of fulfillment that transcends the challenges of her past relationships.

Fern Britton’s journey post-divorce exemplifies a woman who values her independence, cherishes her friendships, and seeks solace in the beauty of everyday life. Through her experiences, she has learned to prioritize self-care, maintain healthy relationships with her loved ones, and find peace in the simple pleasures that life has to offer.
