Increased Security at Texas Cemetery Following Nicki Minaj’s Diss Track

The Texas cemetery where Megan Thee Stallion’s late mother, Holly Thomas, is buried has recently implemented heightened security measures. This decision comes shortly after Nicki Minaj referenced Thomas in her new diss track against Megan Thee Stallion. TMZ reported that the cemetery reached out to local authorities and increased the number of security personnel at their facility to ensure extra protection for Thomas’s gravesite. Although no incidents have occurred at the gravesite thus far, the cemetery is on high alert.

The Controversy Surrounding Minaj’s Diss Record

Minaj, in her diss track titled “Big Foot,” included derogatory lyrics about Megan Thee Stallion’s deceased mother. She rapped, “How you f-k your mother man when she die? / How you go on Gayle King and can’t cry? / Chile, bye / Big Foot, but you still a small fry / Swearin’ on your dead mother when you lie.” Minaj, also known as Onika Maraj, repeated the phrase “Lyin’ on your dead mama” several times throughout the song, alluding to alleged falsehoods Megan had shared about her past relationships. Unfortunately, some dedicated fans of Minaj have gone to extreme lengths, leaking information about Thomas’s burial location.

Holly Thomas passed away in March 2019 due to a cancerous brain tumor. Minaj’s diss track didn’t stop at targeting Megan’s deceased mother; she also mentioned the 2020 incident where the “Savage” rapper was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez. Minaj referred to Megan as a “Glass-fragment-foot-ass bitch.” In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of all charges related to the shooting and was subsequently sentenced to 10 years in prison in August of the following year.

The feud between the once-collaborators-turned-rivals reignited with the release of Megan’s latest single, “Hiss.” In the song, she took a dig at Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, a convicted sex offender, by referencing Megan’s Law. Megan’s Law is a federal law in the United States that requires law enforcement authorities to make information about registered sex offenders available to the public. Megan rapped, “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan / These hoes mad at Megan’s Law / I don’t really know what the problem is / But I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start.”

Kenneth Petty became a registered sex offender after being convicted of attempted rape in the first degree in April 1995. In October 2019, he pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender in California after relocating from New York. Despite previously collaborating on the hit song “Hot Girl Summer” in 2019, Megan and Nicki’s relationship soured, leading to their current feud.

As of now, the three-time Grammy winner, Nicki Minaj, has not responded directly to Megan Thee Stallion’s diss track. Fans eagerly await Minaj’s reaction and whether this ongoing feud will escalate further. It remains to be seen how the diss track and the increased security at the Texas cemetery will shape the future of these artists’ relationship and the impact on Megan’s grieving process for her late mother.

The Texas cemetery has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety and sanctity of Holly Thomas’s gravesite following the controversial mention of her name in Nicki Minaj’s diss track. The ongoing feud between Megan Thee Stallion and Minaj continues to captivate fans, who are eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this tumultuous saga. The added security measures serve as a reminder of the power and influence that musicians hold, and the potential consequences of their words. Ultimately, it is important for artists to tread carefully and consider the impact their actions may have on others, especially in sensitive situations such as the loss of a loved one.
