The Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, is preparing to make a generous gesture to the city of Chester in celebration of his upcoming marriage to Olivia Henson. The 7th Duke of Westminster will tie the knot with his fiancée Olivia at Chester Cathedral on Friday 7 June. To mark this special occasion, Chester will be adorned with 100,000 flowers planted in various displays across the city throughout the summer, all funded by the billionaire Duke himself. Additionally, the couple plans to donate their wedding flowers to local charities and organizations, showcasing their philanthropic spirit.
Choosing Chester Cathedral as the venue for their nuptials holds a special significance for Hugh and Olivia. The cathedral also served as the wedding venue for Hugh’s older sister Lady Tamara back in 2004, who married Prince William’s close friend Edward van Cutsem. The Grade I-listed building, located just a few miles from the family’s ancestral seat Eaton Hall, holds many precious memories for the groom. Hugh expressed his excitement about the upcoming wedding, noting the family’s long association with the cathedral, from his father’s memorial to his sister’s wedding.
Following their wedding, the couple plans to start a new chapter by relocating to the north. Olivia, who has grown more familiar with Cheshire since dating Hugh, expressed their intention to build their lives together in the area and put down roots. Although the exact details of their move remain unknown, Eaton Hall, their private wedding reception venue, stands as a picturesque setting to begin their married life. The French chateau-style property boasts over 10,000 acres of land, including formal gardens, parkland, farmland, and woodland.
Hugh and Olivia’s upcoming wedding has garnered attention as the high-society event of the year. Prince William, a close friend of the Duke, will serve as one of the ushers, with other senior royals possibly in attendance. However, it is unlikely that Hugh’s godson Prince George will be able to participate as a pageboy due to his school commitments. The presence of King Charles and Queen Camilla at the wedding remains uncertain, given the monarch’s ongoing health issues and royal responsibilities.
Through their wedding preparations and plans for the future, the Duke of Westminster and his bride Olivia Henson epitomize a blend of tradition, generosity, and anticipation as they embark on this new journey together.
